Kevin Bloom

NHLA
former Political Director
NH
Kevin Bloom moved to New Hampshire in 2008 as part of the Free State Project, and is the former Political Director of the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance, serving from 2013 to 2015. From 2012 to 2013 he was a founder and lobbyist for the liberty firm Rothbard, Stirner, and Dobbs. In 2010, he authored the first draft of legislation (HB 262) that made New Hampshire the first state to officially recognize Nanobreweries as a separate class of brewery. In 2011, Kevin authored legislation (HB 1208) that removed restrictions from brewery advertising and labeling. This bill was signed by Governor Lynch in 2012. Both bills were sponsored by Representative Mark Warden of Goffstown, NH. In 2013, Kevin authored HB 253, which removed the over the counter sales restriction on nanobreweries. The bill was sponsored by Representative Tim O’Flaherty and signed by Governor Hassan. The result of these bills was the current explosion of brewery growth in New Hampshire. Kevin also wrote legislation to legalize the growing of industrial hemp, a version of which was signed into law in 2015. He has written legislation to legalize poker, and was instrumental in legalizing home winemaking, as well as fighting to ban civil asset forfeiture, for gun rights, and to ban REAL ID and license plate scanners, among many other pro-liberty bills.

In 2010, he co-founded the Church of the Sword, which currently meets in Concord at Area 23. In 2014, the Church of the Sword was given a property in Westmoreland and applied for a property exemption, as the property was used as a parsonage. The town denied the exemption. The Church appealed to the Superior Court, which dismissed the appeal at the request of the town. The Church then appealed to the New Hampshire Supreme Court, which ruled that unelected town officials can determine if your religion has any first amendment rights.
